Description: HISTORICAL, ONE OF A KIND 1841 HANDWRITTEN LEATHER BOUND BOOK-RELIGION-METHODIST CHURCH Unique 1841 United Methodist Church Class Book from a group in Little Falls, New York. Little Falls is in Herkimer County, in upstate New York. Class meetings were small groups of 12-15 members of a Methodist society who met weekly with their class leader. The leader was a mature follower of Jesus Christ who society leaders felt could be trusted with the spiritual guidance of his fellow Methodists. They led the weekly class meetings and served as role models for their class, and the other society members. This book is a record of the class that met in Little Falls, New York that began February 18, 1841 led by Ira St. John; Elder was Truman Seymore; Preachers Adam Jones, Salmon H. Foster. The last entry was December 7, 1845. There are 44 handwritten pages and 4 printed pages. The cover is leather and binding is string. Size: 4 3/4 x 7 1/2” In very good condition with the original string binding. There is a photograph of a man in the front of the book. Not sure who he is. Probably the leader of the Methodist Episcopal Church. But on the back of the photo it says “duplicate print” which was obviously added on at a later date. Everything else is original to the period. As found in an Albany, NY estate that we acquired many years ago. Condition: Please read condition description at top of listing.
