Description: VERY ATTRACTIVE SMALL (23MM DIAMETER) FRENCH MEDAL FROM LYON. THE TEXT ON THE OBVERSE SAYS IT IS IN COMMEMORATION OF THE UNIVERSAL EXPO OF THE SAME YEAR, WHICH I ASSUME IS THE ONE HELD IN THE CRYSTAL PALACE. LOOKING WITHOUT A LOUPE, THE MEDAL IS ABOUT THE SIZE OF A NICKEL AND AS THIN AS A DIME, WHICH I HOPE PROVIDES AMPLE INFORMATION THAT COMBINED WITH THE PHOTOS GIVES YOU A GOOD SENSE OF THE PIECE. AND IT LOOKS LIKE GILT BRASS, BUT THAT'S JUST MY OWN VISUAL OBSERVATION. IUT'S A PRETTY AND VERY INEXPENSIVE MEDAL. IN RECENT YEARS I HAVE DEVOTED AN INCREASING AMOUNT OF TIME AND ACQUISITION DOLLARS TO EUROPEAN MEDALS SUCH AS THIS FROM FRANCE AND THE 1911 ENGLISH CORONATION MEDAL ALSO LISTED HERE.
