Description: 1958 Topps #7 Dale Long Chicago Cubs Mid-level EX-MT B58#7A1 This is a mid-level 1958 Dale Long card with decent corners, straight edges and nicely centered. Decent corners Nicely centered Clean back Vintage ‘58 Long is credited with 10 years in the majors with six different clubs. A left handed first baseman, his lifetime batting average was .267 with one All Star appearance. Long was signed in ‘45 by Cincinnati and played his first year with two ball clubs, splitting time with Pittsburg and the St. Louis Browns. His first full season in the majors occurred in ‘55. In 1958, Long played two games behind the plate as a left handed catcher. He used his first baseman glove when he did so, a left handed catchers glove nowhere to be found. Long spent his last year in pro ball with the Cardinals farm club before retiring.
