Two years after the end of the Civil War, John Benjamin Schiller built three identical houses, side by side, across the street from his home at 1721 St. Andrew Street, in what is now the Lower Garden District. The three Greek revival house, referred to as "dower cottages," were for his three daughters, Mary Emma, Caroline Mathilde and Ophelia. The house at 1722 St. Andrew is now owned by J. Thomas Ellicott and is referred to as the Schiller-Ellicott house. Photo measures 9.75 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 06-22-1987.
