Description: Antique 1884 English Corkscrew, The Wulfruna Wonderful find this 1880s English patented corkscrew designed by Stephen Plant and patented in 1884. Plant named this corkscrew (Wulfruna). The corkscrew has an unusual mechanism atop the handle. To operate turn the handle counterclockwise until it stops at the top, slide the flat plate located at the top over the threaded shaft. Place the corkscrew on the bottle twist the handle clockwise until the screw is through the cork. Slide the flat plate off the threaded shaft and turn handle clockwise, this will raise the cork from the bottle. Made of steel with a Nickle-plating, this is truly a rare find in this condition. Patented, March 27, 1884, by Stephan Plant of Wolverhampton England.Measures, 7” tall, 3 ¼” wide at handle. Marked, none. Condition is very good for age.
