Description: Vintage WWII Transparency Map "NORTHERN APENNINES TO THE ALPS" September 1944 - May 1945 Showcases the German-Italian line, the Allied Axis of Advance, the high ground above 200 meters, the positions and movements of the British 8th Army & US 5th/7th Army. Geographically showcases the Alps, Venice, Apennines, Florence, Milan, Brescia, Verona, Piacenza, Turin, Switzerland border, France border, etc. Measures 8.5" x 10.5" Not sure when this was made, or why. It looks, smells, and feels old. I'm not sure if it's from the 40's, but I have several period WWII newsreel 16mm films, and this transparency has the same exact texture and vinegar odor as they do. Seems to be made of the same acetate or polyester (or whatever the material may be). This could be some sort of mission planning map, or training aid, etc. No clue. This would look very cool displayed back-lit in a light box, hanging on the wall amongst the rest of your WWII map or poster collection... Condition: Color is good. Surface has expected light marks, dust, and finger marks. All text and parts of the illustrations are intact and legible. None of the color or lettering is chipping off. Edges have tape marks. This vintage item is sold as-is. Please ask all questions before bidding. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've come across a small collection of these, so check my other auctions to see maps from other campaigns and parts of WWII.
