Description: Beautiful late Edwardian petticoat dress, an interesting garment showing the morphing of the corset cover and the petticoat into one piece. It makes a beautiful and crisply cool summer dress. The scooped neckline and the hem are trimmed with wide cotton lace. The neckline and the embroidered eyelet lace at the slightly raised waist have been threaded through with pink ribbon, most likely added at a later date. The short sleeves have narrow bands, elastic was not used at this date. The front opens to hip level and closes with linen buttons and the skirt features rows of horizontal tucks. Skirt has one side vent. Lower-calf length. Cotton. No labels, probably custom made - 1910s. Measurements Size - Small to Medium - Will fit bust up to 92 cm (36") but this would make the waist sit higher beneath the bust. Best fit bust 87 cm (34") Raised waist to 81 cm (32") Hips to 107 cm (42") Sleeve 23 cm (9") Length 120 cm (47") Condition Good. There are several small holes at the right top of the bodice beneath the lace, and a couple of small holes in the skirt front. A small mark above the vent at the back.
