Description: Antique original J & E Stevens cast iron mechanical Eagle and Eaglets bank. Measures about 6" tall, and the base is about 6.75" x 4". It is in working condition. To operate, place a coin in the eagle's beak and press the lever just under its tail. This causes the eagle to lean forward and drop the coin into the bank. As it does, the eaglets rise up slightly and open their beaks. To see it in action, check out my video HERE. The bank is all original except for the one screw that attaches the base and the piece with the eaglets to the main body, and some of the green paint on the sides looks like it may have been touched up. It is missing the round piece that covers the opening to remove the coins in the bottom. The bank originally had a bellows inside that was designed to create an eagle-like squeaking sound when the bank operates. The wooden components of the bellows are there, but the metal squeaker is missing, and the original cloth sides have been replaced with duct tape (see last photo). Otherwise, condition is as seen in photos. Scratches, missing paint, rust, and other wear. Please take a look and feel free to ask any questions.
