Description: For sale we have a excellent beautiful original early 1800's antique primitive 8" southeastern Pennsylvania Folk Art pumpkin orange glazed Redware plate with nine rich yellow slip decorated squiggle lines. This beauty is accented with a crudely coggled outer edge. This plate or deep dish has a incredible rich glossy pumpkin orange glaze color with nine primitive rich yellow slip squiggle lines on the front of the plate. The back of the plate has the deep rich Pa. unglazed red coloration. The inside of the plate looks barely used with very minimal usage marks seen even when tilted. The inside is bright and glossy with some minor wear or areas of spotty scuffing on the outer edges of the slip lines and a touch of wear in the center. The outer edge of the plate is crudely coggled with some uneven high point wear and two or three coggle flicks. We pictured these areas and mention them for complete accuracy. The back of the plate is nice with a outer edge flick and some center base discoloration and wear from usage. We pictured this and again mention this for complete accuracy. We date this plate to the early to mid 1800's. This is a fresh to the market example that's in original untouched condition. The plate is crude and measures approx. 8 to 8 1/4" across and it's approx.1 1/2' deep. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks deep scratches or scuffing. There are no repairs or alterations to this beautiful example. We do see a bit of lite glaze crazing when examined closely. This is a excellent untouched original choice example in unaltered condition with a great look and presence. This would make a great addition to a Redware collection or a general Antique Folk Art and Primitive collection. This is a great survivor with a great look and complete originality.
