Description: Original antique watercolor landscape painting.Seaside houses and Windmill on the water, with sailboat , sea birds , etc. Watercolor paints on heavyweight art paper.Unsigned and undated; this is a circa 1900 painting ( late 1800s to around 1910 ).Oblong, 5 9/16" x 22" The location is not identified, however this was obtained here in Rhode Island and was possibly painted here as well, around 120-130+ years ago.The view may have been inspired by what is now the Windmill District on the island of Jamestown, Rhode Island, in Narragansett Bay ; possibly painted with some artistic license to include the sailing boat ( sail and masts ) and the waters of the bay in the scene. The painting has some damage; old mat marking around the edges, and two 1" tears at the edge.There is also a hole at the far right of the scene, and some vertical staining.( see the photos ) If this antique watercolor does indeed show the Jamestown RI Windmill on Narragansett Bay, then it is a quite a scarce painting indeed. Carefully packed for shipment to the buyer.
