Product Description: This offering is for a new pair of men's Asics GT-2000 (Version 12) running shoes in a size 10.5 D (US). This particular model is often referred to as the stability version of their most popular running shoe, the Asics Gel-Cumulus. It's also a lighter and slightly less cushioned alternative to the Asics Gel-Kayano. In other words, Asics has positioned this shoe as one of their more versatile offerings with some modest stability features for those that need it. Note: the "D" sizing indicator represents a men's medium/standard shoe width. As viewed in the pictures, these shoes are mostly blue with some black, yellow and white accents. Some detailed specifications include the following... Pronation type: Moderate stability (as discussed below) Drop: 8 mm Heel stack height: 36 mm Forefoot stack height: 28 mm Weight (each shoe): 10.3 oz (per digital scale) Other notes: Most would probably consider this a trainer that is best suited for road/paved surfaces. Although, well maintained and relatively flat dirt roads would also be fine (like the many farm roads we run on in Kansas). I land somewhere between a neutral and a stability running shoe when it comes to a trainer. For me, this shoe falls in this "in-between" category. There are not the traditional stability features like a "post" or even higher density foam on the medial side of the shoe. Instead, there is a reinforced heel counter that helps lock-in the back of the foot and limits movement to either the medial or lateral side. Additionally, the foam geometry helps guide the foot. There is a slight bevel at the rear and the the midsole foam flares out from the upper, especially on the medial side, which creates a larger landing platform to help correct mild pronation. I've also noticed the foam build-up on the sides extends slightly above the inner sole, which also helps with stability because these foam "rails" offer additional medial and lateral support. In other words, this midsole foam build-up helps to "cradle" the foot in the shoe. Finally, I want to mention the rocker design at the forefoot that helps roll the foot through each gate cycle, even with the moderate drop noted above. In terms of condition, these shoes look like store returns with few miles on them. I suppose they could be floor samples with a handful of parking lot test runs in them, but I am guessing they were customer returns before I purchased them. I say this because I see some very light wear on the outsole, and mostly at the heal (must've been a heal striker). Again, it's minimal and really only noticeable upon close inspection. There are also some faint dirt marks on the uppers (again under very close inspection), but it's the outsoles that I always focus on because everything else can be cleaned up. The outsoles offer the best indicator of wear. To this end, I am guessing there were a few training runs in these shoes and then for whatever reason the customer decided the shoes were not right for them. As for me, I already have a similar pair of these shoes (in a different color) that are part of a shoe rotation and I just don't need them. I never ran or trained in them, but did try them on before putting them on the shelf a while back.
