Description: Bernhardt Wall (1872-1956) was an artist and historian born in Buffalo, New York. He started making lithographs in the late 1880s, designing many post cards. In 1915, he began to make etchings, illustrating many famous Americans as well as other world figures. The offered print is one of the etchings that Wall produced depicting World War I and important figures in the military involved in that conflict. This print shows the French general, Marshal Joseph Joffre, and to the left of his image one can see horseman riding across a battle torn landscape. The print is pencil-signed by Wall in the right margin below the image. This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off. Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints and art that I sell are not "reproductions". For example, offered maps are of the period. Please check my other listings for additional items of interest. I will combine shipping.
