Great price on a New-Mint-In-The-Box collectible that has been sold out for many years! I have a very limited quantity on a complete set of 6 MIB service stations. The cars shown in the brochure picture are props and are not included in the listing. While the first automatic car washes didn't appear until the late 1940s, a hand car wash was offered at service stations across America as part of the "full service". You could get a full tank of gas, oil change, car wash, and that weird noise from the rear left tire checked out - all in one stop! This miniature gas station model features a sunny yellow color with light green, red and blue accents. The curved shape, resembling a macaroni noodle, was both classy and cool. The front of the service station is floor-to-ceiling grids of windows, with two doors at the rear. The four towers rise above nearby buildings to draw customers - they read "LUBE", "GAS", "OIL", AND "WASH". The large sign above the station canopy reads "BOBBY'S - QUIK SERVE OPEN 24 HOURS". The detail is incredible, from the air compressor to the stack of tires, the colorful trash barrels to the oil cans near the front doors. A perfect addition to any small city display! It is close to HO scale, but I am not sure. The gas pump is 1" high. From the box: "When the first Model T rolled off the assembly line, American life rolled off in a new direction. In fact, it changed the American way of life forever. Gas stations sprung up on the newly paved highways, not the sterile, impersonal self-service stations we have today. In those halcyon days (when the service attendant not only filled the tank, but washed your windshield, checked your oil and put air in your tires) each station was an architectural marvel.
