Wouldn't you like to add this lens to your collection? *Acácio de Almeida Biography Acácio de Almeida was born on May 28, 1938, in São João da Pesqueira (Viseu District), Portugal. After attending secondary school in Viseu, he moved to Lisbon in 1959, where he started working on sound for amateur films on 9.5mm film, eventually enrolling in the film course at the Lisbon University Center. After serving as the director of photography for António da Cunha Telles' 1970 feature film O Cerco, he became a fellow at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Paris in 1977 and interned under Néstor Almendros.In 1970, he founded the Portuguese Film Center, then went on to create the cooperative Group Zero in 1974 and the production company Inforfilmes in 1987. His international collaborations, including regular work with directors such as Raúl Ruiz, brought him worldwide recognition. His cinematography portfolio includes over 150 films by directors such as João César Monteiro, Ricardo Costa, Jorge Silva Melo, António da Cunha Telles, Paulo Rocha, Seixas Santos, João Botelho, and Manoel de Oliveira. For his work on the film O Passado e o Presente, he received the Press Award in 1972 and the Bordallo Award in the film category from Casa da Imprensa in 1973. He has also won several awards, including the Photography Award and the Feature Film Award for his collaborations with director Manoel de Oliveira, and recognition for the short film A Chafarica and Sophia, which he worked on with sound designer Alexandre Gonçalves. On December 18, 2023, he was awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit by the Portuguese government.
