Description: CARS OF THE THIRTIES AND FORTIES HARDCOVER (1980) BEEKMAN HOUSE ITEM DESCRIPTION This book covers the technical advance of the automobile during the thirties and forties, with chapters on the major mechanical improvements and on the refinements of the unitary bodywork, including the introduction of compound curves, proper ventilation, and modern aerodynamics. Michael Sedgwick also examines the motor industry and takes a look at automobile advertising. Over 450 illustrations, 200 in color. This item was purchased from a private collection and is in good condition. The dust jacket's inside left flap's corner has been cut off. The interior of the dust jacket has spotting and discoloration. The dust jacket's bottom right flap is torn and has creasing. The outside of the dust jacket has discoloration, heavy scuffing, scratches, dirt marks, and general wear. The bottom of the spine on the outside of the book has staining, please see photo's. The staining on the bottom of the spine hasn't affected the interior of the covers. The first and last few pages of the book have some discoloration due to age. The top of the second page has pencil writing that could easily be removed. The interior pages of the book are in good condition with no tears, writing, or other major damage.
