A longstanding favourite for the 2021 Booker Prize, it was announced as the winner at a special ceremony on 3 November. 'The Promise ', published by Umuzi (an imprint of Penguin Random House of South Africa) in Cape Town in May 2021 (this being the month before the UK hardback edition was released), 1st edition, large modern paperback, 248 pages.
