Description: About the item: Beginning in the early 1960's Doug Sneyd illustrated single-panel Doug Sneyd News Cartoons. Appearing in papers distributed by Toronto Star Syndicate, it appeared in daily newspapers throughout Canada and the United States and ran for nearly 20 years. The cartoons focused mostly on politicians, government policy, and the economy. This lot of three proof sheet features several of the cartoons. Each measures roughy 9 1/2 by 12 inches, are in good condition overall, and will be shipped with the utmost care. These proof sheets are from the files of the artist himself, having been kept by Sneyd since the cartoons original publication in the 1970's. About Doug Sneyd: Doug Sneyd began his career in commercial illustration before going freelance to work for a variety of book and magazine publishers. He also illustrated single-panel cartoons for the Toronto Star, Canada's largest circulation newspaper (cartoons that were eventually syndicated throughout North America). In 1964, he began working for Playboy and his gag strips have appeared in the magazine ever since. Throughout his career, he has contributed over 500 cartoons in all and became a favorite artist of Playboy readers.
