Description: FORD ESCORT RS1600- GENUINE TOUR OF DEAN '73 POSTER. WYEDEAN. RARE. Here we have possibly the rarest poster in my collection. This genuine poster, advertising the forthcoming "Tour of Dean" shows a FORD ESCORT RS1600 at speed through the forest.The event later went on to be renamed the "WYEDEAN", and held a special place in the rallying calendar.This was always one of the first true forest rallies of the season, and also had appeal due to using stages that would form part of the RAC route, later in the season. The weather (it was January in the Forest of Dean!), the opposition and the tight stages all played a big part. It was a compact and highly regarded route that brought many works teams to the event. There was always something noteworthy going on, be it the works teams trying out new cars/ equipment, local crews setting blistering stage times, to a works car being stolen before the event one year, there was always a buzz of excitement. The "Tour of Dean" had it all. This poster has been in my collection since new, it has survived in good condition, showing some evidence of previously being displayed. However, it has spent the past 30 years stored away from light. This would certainly appeal to the FORD AVO, Boreham- works ESCORT enthusiast. It would look superb displayed alongside a big wing Mark 1 escort, possibly in a private museum. This would also suit the collector of FORD 1970's RALLYING ephemera, a themed bar, or for the games room/ mancave or for display on a stand at the classic car shows.Imagine the bragging rights, and the conversations this would start.
