I will be listing many on ebay over the next few weeks. This is not a copy or print, this is the ORIGINAL illustration art painting by FREDERICK J. HOERTZ (American, 1889-1978). This is the original painting that was used for promotional calendars, posters, etc, by LYKES LINES. Hand-signed at lower left by Hoertz, as shown. He has added a small anchor under his signature. Backside of painting is also signed by Hoertz. The image is titled "MOTOR SHIP "JOHN LYKES" in the white margin below the image. Lykes Bros. Steamship Co., also called Lykes Lines, was a cargo shipping company acting from the beginning of the 20th century to 2005 having its main business in the trade to and from the United States. Painting is on 13 3/8" x 11" CRAFTINT artist's board. Actual painted area measures 9 1/2" x 11 1/2". This piece displays beautifully, and is in original untouched condition, with absolutely no rips, tears, holes, stains, overpaint, or repairs. Never displayed, so the colors are as bright and vivid as the day they were painted. Guaranteed to be an authentic vintage hand-painted work, and not a reproduction or print.
