It is designed for emergencies especially in white water, where quick action can mean life or death. This single edge blade has both a serrated and plain combination.There are River Masters that were made in Portland, and those that were made in Italy. This is one of the scarrcer Italian made models. Same knife, just different countries of production and obviously the ones made in Portland are more common to find in the US than the Italian ones. This one has a Serrated type top edge for a dagger. I also have another one with a plain edge. This knife is in Excellent condition, with minor signs of wear from sheath and handling. See pictures to make your own assessment, but I doubt you will be disappointed in this knife's condition. Comes with a hardshell Black Zytel sheath, with built in clip lock that keeps the knife securely in place when diving, boating, hiking etc. Once piece construction with a very fine V-Ground Edge. This retains the factory edge and I don't believe this has ever been used, but probably only handled/carried.
