It is approximately 70 mm tall x 40 mm wide and 1 mm thick. This badge is hand made as the original emblems were, they were not mass produced to factory specifications! It is purchased in traditional brass finish and aged appropriately. This badge is individually crafted and aged and the photographs below give an idea of the final ageing look but each one is different and individual! It is made from brass sheet and has appropriate fixing holes, contrary to popular belief, few badges were made with pins as this irritated the wearers head when worn as a Kriegsmarine badge on the cap as well as being difficult to make! They were hand made by the U-boat crews to indicate 'The Boat', they belonged to, a badge of honour and worn with pride.
