Save Money on Shipping by requesting a special invoice from me AFTER buying more than one item in a single day but BEFORE paying for them. Hand-Made Duck Mallard Mexico Ceramic Hatching Egg Sculpture Nuño SMALL By Nuno The hatching eggs made and signed by B. Nuño are easy to spot because they have an unusual shiny glaze on them. Typically, these eggs have a matte finish. This is a colorful Mallard Duck, so cute! Please see the last photo for a group shot of most of the small size Mexican ceramic hatchlings my store. My store, Vintage Eclectic International, is selling a large and varied collection of ceramic Mexican hatchlings, over 50 eggs in sizes from extra small to extra large, including many that are shown in the Buying Guide photos. Please come by and take a look. I often have other Mexican folk art items available, too.IMPORTANT: About the Buying Guide Link: Since seller-written Buying Guides have been discontinued by eBay, I have expanded mine, added new photos, and moved them to Amaz*n and Kindl*. You can find them by typing the phrase “Buying Guide Ceramic Eggs” in any Amaz*n search box. Below is a Table of Contents for this Buying Guide and info about the series.Collecting Mexican Ceramic Hatching Egg Figurines: Buying Guides for International Collectables, A Series: Volume TwoThese whimsical handmade figurines are designed by artists, and then made, assembled, and painted by hand. Often surrealistic in nature, they begin with an egg, vegetable, fruit, shell, or some other vessel made of pottery or ceramic to which is inserted and attached a creature of some kind, from a butterfly to a dinosaur. Some very famous Mexican artists began their careers making these hatching eggs. TABLE OF CONTENTS: Introduction and Definition, Artists and Studios, Prices and Values, and Sizes, Where to Buy, Singles, Doubles, Triples, and Beyond, Hatching from Fruit, Vegetables, and Other Vessels, Collecting, Realism versus Surrealism, Signatures, Two Words of Caution, Packaging and Shipping, Other Egg-Laying Nations, Cleaning and Display, A Fading Tradition. This series of booklets, Buying Guides for International Collectables, celebrates folk art and collectable items from around the world, including some that are not well-known but that are affordable and fascinating. Ceramics, wood carvings, semi-precious gemstones, embroidery, sculpture, and sterling silver figurines are just some of the areas explored. Here is an excerpt from that Buying Guide:“Prices and Values Price and value are tied to a number of factors including: egg size, the number of animals emerging from or perched on a single egg, artist (if known), creativity, beauty, edition size (if known), and, of course, condition. Typically, the larger the egg, the higher the price. Sizes range from under two inches long (quail egg size) to eggs larger than an ostrich could lay (dinosaur size over 6 inches). The three middle sizes are the most common: 1. extra-small - less than 2 inches (quail size) - RARE 2. small 2-3” (chicken size) 3. medium 3-4” (goose size) 4. large 4-6” (ostrich size) 5. extra large – over 6” (dinosaur size) - RARE The size of the creatures can double the size of the sculpture. Prices on eBay may begin in the 20 dollar range for the small single hatchling size and go up to 100 dollars or more for the extra large. The work of certain artists like B---* and M--- can command many times these amounts. Prices for eggs by C--- and M--- are on the rise. Certain animals are more highly sought after, too, i.e., exotic birds (penguin, ostrich, flamingo), turtles, giraffes, lions, elephants, dolphins, and dinosaurs.” (end of excerpt)*See the actual Buying Guide for artists’ names. The names are incomplete here to prevent search box confusion.NOTE: Mexico's ceramic tradition goes back over 4,000 years but is in sharp decline. Wikipedia reports that in 1994 there were 1.5 million ceramic artisans in the country, but only 50,000 left by 2006. That's a 96% decrease. Two of the major reasons for the decline are the cheap overseas imports flooding this market, and the labor drain of artisans to northern countries in the pursuit of a better economic future. The beautiful art ceramics of Jalisco and other Mexican states can only become more scarce. My Seller FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions): Reading this now will save both of us time later because sellers are allowed some customization within their seller policies. Allergy Note: All lots come from a smoke free and cat free home but pre-owned items may have originated in different conditions. Cancellations: Anyone canceling more than one bid or requesting the cancellation of more than one purchase within a six-month period will be put on the blocked bidder list permanently out of fairness to all. Discounted Shipping: USA shipping only. I am happy to discount shipping on multiple purchases of similar weight if you message me to request a discounted invoice after your last auction concludes but before payment is sent. Please make this request through your “cart” or the eBay messaging system within 72 hours of the first win. Multiple large fragile items are not usually subject to this option because they often have to ship in separate boxes. Shipping and Return Policy: I can only ship to your official eBay address within the USA (the address that shows up when a seller looks at your eBay ID or tries to send you an invoice), no exceptions. I ship twice a week, usually on Monday and Thursday so shipping can take up to four days from the time of payment. Please bear this in mind, as well as the post office transit time estimates, when looking at arrival dates. You will always receive a tracking number from the eBay shipping system. Oklahoma residents and the residents of most other states are always subject to sales tax. In more than 20 years, my return policy has not changed. All sales are final - no returns or refunds unless there is a serious question of authenticity or a gross error in the description. Refunds are not available for differences regarding banknote, coin and medal grading opinions. Payment Reminder: eBay automatically cancels a transaction when payment fails to arrive within the required period. ABOUT FEEDBACK: My top priorities are answering email, writing accurate descriptions and the fastest possible shipping for my schedule. Feedback is important but not my priority. I leave feedback only once or twice a month in large groups to save time. All text and photos are copyrighted.
