Description: First used in the late 1940s (post-WWII), this custom-ish rig was employed by the Beretta BM-59 Mk IV squad automatic rifle (aka light machine gun or LMG) gunner. It is a modified set of Pattern 1937 (Modello 937 in Italian) and is similar to British Mills webbing but made in Italy. This is likely from the 1960s, made from earlier Patt '37 webbing components, but could have been used even into the 1970s or 1980s. The set consists of a belt, suspenders or braces, two front basic pouches, and three basic pouches in the rear; the three rear pouches are sewn to the belt, as is the rear of the braces. Another exciting feature is the pull straps (if that's what they are) on the top-front of the braces. The rear pouches have leather closures. As is usual with Italian P37 webbing, there are no markings. All fittings are brass. The belt measures about 43 inches long in its current configuration.
