Glesecke, Dresden- A.24 SIZE: Small: 4-3/4" w x 6-1/4" h x 3/8" spine / 131 pages- text with black and white photography. Each photograph is small since the book is a catalogue listing, with between 6 to 9 photos per page. Most of the photos shown in this post are full pages showing the many images on a exact page, plus 12 closeups that I cropped tight for you to see up close the beautiful details. CONDITION: Overall it is in good condition fora book that is almost 100 years old. - COVER is aged and shows signs of use, scuffing, + soils. Cover artwork is bright; no sun fading with fabric binding in VGC. Outside of boards are VG with front two corners bumped. Fabric binding w/thick paper mounted on board covers. - INSIDE overall good with page color still white. Binding holding tight throughout. Inside of cover and first 10 pages, there is 'slight' moisturemarks near top front of pages. Inside front cover; the paper on the board has lifted slightly near binding, but is still there in one piece. A rare find from my 60 years of art book collecting.The German Expressionistic cover artwork (as well as the front page illustration) are a prime example of this important art movement. The interior black and white nude photographs are a rare collection that reflect the style, and history of the 1920's nude art study genre. This original book (not a re-print) contains 100's of beautiful /handsome / young, male and female real people nudes as the models and their families, with related text in German. Photos show, full frontal,side and rear views of the models. An important part of photography history, this catalogue was for anyone to purchase the images as: Wallet size prints; Stereoscopic 3-D prints viewed with a hand held stereoscope; or Film strips to be viewed with small electric light projectors, usually made by Alladin. Included is text and photos detailing all of these choices. The overall focus is on the Nordic German ideal: ahealthy body beautiful through exercise; body movement; gymnastics; calisthenics; dance; yoga; posing for art nude studies, etc. Outside photos conveying harmony with nature, as well as inside studio setups, are detailed here for the eye of the camera to willingly capture. - I placed digital orange dots for on-line purposes, on the photos of this selling post to comply with the Ebay rules and regulations regarding nude photos.
