Description: Hard to Find Vintage 1960's Okinawa Japanese wood lacquered pencil box with two matching bases. Okinawa is actually etched out of the wood on the bottom. The box stands 5 in tall with a narrow side and a wide side narrow side measures 2 and 7/8 inches wide, wide side measures 3 and 1/8 in wide. This pencil box was given to my dad as a gift in the '60s from traveling with Hy-Line. This is an amazing piece of Okinawa wood from that era for your collection. It has been sitting on our shelf at least 50 years and in immaculate condition. There was a taped owner ID on the bottom that was hard to get off so I noticed some scratching from trying to remove the tape. Minor use wear in last picture. This will make a fabulous decorative conversation piece to use as display or for functional use to hold pens or chopsticks. Picture glare from a high gloss lacquer.
