Description: Minton England 1830s Hand Painted Green Porcelain Table Lamp This is a stunning Lamp made by Minton between 1830 and 1835. The lamp has a bright green ground with a beautifully and finely painted floral reserve to the front panel and charmingly shaped lion heads gilt handles. The cartouche of summer flowers are all hand painted. The lamp in oval form with a somewhat short neck sits on a circular base which rests upon a square plinth. The rounded base is heavily accentuated with gilt and beading to the top rim and the square plinth is outlined with gilt. The lion head handles sits on the shoulders of the main body surrounded by gilt and white leaves throughout. A necklace of jewellewing sits on the base of the neck. The neck is decorated with a floral gilt design that wraps around the neck. The rims on top of the lamp is turned out and forms into a connection of white and gilt leaves that carries all around. The lamp is not marked, as was quite common at the time. Minton was one of the pioneers of English china production. They were located in Staffordshire and were known specifically for their wonderfully fine white bone china and bright colours. Throughout the different phases of its existence, the factory made top quality creamware, porcelain, majolica and ultimately the finest parian porcelain. Minton excelled in their decorations and gilt work; these were often executed by artists who came from the Sèvres factory in France and brought their skills with them.
