Valentinian's general Theodosius defeated a revolt in Africa and the Great Conspiracy, against Roman Britain by Picts, Scoti, and Saxons. He founded the Valentinianic dynasty, with his sons Gratian and Valentinian II succeeding him in the western half of the empire.
