Description: Noritake Japan "Somerset" Gravy Boat/ Attached Underplate VTG #5317 discontinued EUC This is a RARE vintage retired Noritake "Somerset" Gravy Boat with Attached Underplate This Gravy Boat is in beautiful condition with the total length to be approximately 9" inches. This piece has the bowl which measures 7.5" inches at top of boat with two spouts with a depth of 2" inches and an oval diameter of 3.75" inches x 5.75" inches which can hold 10 ounces comfortably- anything more and you will definitely be using that underplate! The Attached Oval Underplate measures as stated above 9" inches long by 6" inches with an indented 1" inch all around to catch any spills with another .5" inch floral rim and gold rimmed handles. The whole combination stands at 3" inches tall. The "Somerset" pattern from NORITAKE Japan was only made from 1952 until 1973, so it is roughly 60-plus years old. It is an older pattern that is very elegant with the white fine porcelain decorated with dainty tan and gray scrolls around the rims with larger pink and blue flowers and leaves scattered around the inside body of the bowl, trimmed with a thicker gold line around the rim. This is a quiet, understated and classic pattern with it's pastel multicolored pieces and in the thoughtful design. This would be a nice addition to Noritake you may already own or another China as accompanying pieces.
