There is an inset of the western end of the state, including Asheville, Murphy, the Catawba River, and parts of Watauga and Burke counties. Among the other named places and features are Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Cape Hatteras, Wilmington, Fayetteville, the Atlantic Coast Line, Beaufort, Albemarle Sound, Boone, and hundreds more. The image area measures 10½" x 15", and the map was engraved by the Matthews-Northrup Company. Longitude is measured from Greenwich.
