The OneStep+ is the latest retro-inspired sequel camera from Polaroid Originals, modeled after one of the instant photography pioneer’s most famous creations.The OneStep plus is a nod to the ’70s-era Polaroid original, with chunky styling that’s full of retro charm.The only modern additions are hidden at the back, with LEDs on top to show how many shots you have left, and a micro USB charging port on the back. Otherwise, the few buttons and switches on the front are delightfully mechanical. The switch on the top changes the lens between 89mm and 103mm; the former is for portraits and close-ups, while the latter is used for everything else. The switch also opens the film tray.The film packs horizontally into the front of the camera.Getting started is as simple as the camera itself. Open the tray, insert the film pack (there are clear instructions in the manual and on the camera), and close it. The OneStep spits out a protective frame, and then you’re ready to shoot.The square viewfinder gives a pretty accurate idea of what the lens is capturing, but with the ultra-simple optics, you’ll find that your photos are more in the frame than you’d expect. The flash is on by default, though you can turn it off.As for shooting “modes,” there’s just a slider to make your photos darker or lighter. That is, until you connect the camera to your smartphone via Bluetooth. The Polaroid Originals app adds remote triggering, a timer shooting mode, light painting and double exposure modes, and manual shooting.Postal service.
