His literary career began in 1820 with the publication of a book of poems and spanned much of the 19th century. He wrote in a variety of genres, including historical, fiction, mystery, romance, and science fiction. Sir George Bulwer-Lytton penned the phrases, "the pen is mightier than the sword," and "pursuit of the almighty dollar." Don't get a reprint of this culturally important work when you can own a leather bound original from the 19th century! Condition: This hard-to-find vintage book is nearly two hundred years old and has been lovingly cared for. The leather cover shows wear and chipping most notably on the edges/corners and spine (see picture), but the gilt lettering and trim are still bright. The inside pages are in very good condition with no tears, no writing, no bent corners, no creases, and no highlighting. No pages are loose or missing. The vintage binding is secure.
