Description: Rare, Art Deco Bamberger Model MB-546 AM radio that is a great candidate for restoration. Radio was made for Bamberger Department Stores, which was headquartered in Newark, NJ. Store also operated a radio station in the early 1920's. This particular model is not even listed on Radio Museum or Radio Attic's web pages, which have a very comprehensive listing of radios that were made. The radio powers up, and has significant hum and I could faintly hear a radio station, so it will need some work to get it functioning. Chassis is very clean with no evidence of rust or corrosion. All of the knobs turn smoothly and properly, as does the dial indicator. The knob for on/off is not original, but you will be hard pressed to tell the difference. I was able to find a knob in my collection and matches nearly perfectly, if not exactly. The original cloth power cord is in poor condition, frayed and taped and will need to be replaced. The finish on the radiois all original and has simply been cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax and presents quite well. The inlaid wood on all 4 faces is quite attractive. With a little bit of restoration work, this radio will be a fine addition to your collection. In order to ensure safe delivery, the radio will be double boxed. Do not hesitate to make an offer, all will be considered.
