Description: This listing is for 4 ounces of raw propolis produced by my own honey bees. I have been a beekeeper for over 50 years, mainly selling pure honey and beeswax candles. About 10 years ago I started collecting raw propolis from my bees and selling it here on Ebay from time to time. This propolis is collected from specially manufactured "traps" which makes it easier to harvest the propolis out of the honey bee hive. The honey bees collect the propolis from botanical sources, just as they do nectar and pollen, and bring it back to the hive. Propolis is really just a "bee glue" that they use to seal up cracks in the hive and coat the inside of the hive with it, like a type of varnish. It has been found that propolis has many health benefits to the bees themselves, other than just a "bee glue." Studies have shown that propolis likewise has many health benefits to humans also. Because of the special propolis traps used, this propolis is virtually clean of any foreign matter when it is harvested. The propolis you are buying has a beautiful color and very nice natural fragrance, similar to honey and beeswax, and is mostly granular, although there will be some larger 1/2" pieces and powder included in the zip lock baggie. There are many ways to use propolis, so I will not go into detail here, but a quick search on Google will give you tons of information about preparing it for use in a multitude of ways.
