Description: Richard and Judy by Judy Finnigan, Richard Madeley TVs golden couple give us - fully and frankly - both sides of their fascinating and extraordinary life stories FORMAT Paperback LANGUAGE English CONDITION Brand New Publisher Description Richard and Judy are one of the nations best-known couples. On television together for 18 years, they fronted the popular daytime programme "This Morning" for 13 of those years and their departure from it gave rise to huge newspaper coverage when they left it in 2001. Now back with their Channel 4 show, they write the full story of their lives - their childhoods, unsuccessful first marriages and of course their own professional and personal lives together. In these juxtaposed accounts, we hear about Judys many health problems and how Richard coped with the lowest points. We hear how both of them survived his court ordeal on a shoplifting charge, how Judy felt on baring more than her soul at a TV awards ceremony, why they left "This Morning" and how they handle home and work and parenthood - as well as the ever-curious press. Author Biography Judy Finnigan was born in Manchester and started work in television as a secretary at the BBC in l971. She became Anglias first woman presenter in l974. She has twin sons by her first marriage and Jack and Chloe by her marriage to Richard.Richard and Judy began presenting This Morning in l988 and left in 2001. They now present a daily news-based show on Channel 4. Review A compelling look at a fascinating marriage! You wont want to put it down -- She magazine Thoroughly entertaining and revealing -- heat magazine Strikingly frank and open-hearted autobiography... intimate and exceptionally revealing -- Daily Mail highly enjoyable! a must for all fans -- Metro Kirkus UK Review There can barely be a person alive in Britain today who doesnt know who Richard and Judy are. Their jointly presented morning magazine show was the epitome of the 1990s and for a while they couldnt move without the press knowing about it. This quite possibly long-awaited autobiography is written from both points of view. Richard and Judy supply alternate chapters charting their rise to celebrity, their burgeoning careers and their developing and enduring relationship. The book is hugely readable in a comfortable, friendly and chatty way. There are no great revelations, but its interesting to read their reactions to low points in their lives such as Richards shoplifting charge and Judys health problems. They come across as highly successful, loving and caring, and obviously value their family above all else. But the sceptics amongst us will try to read between the lines - the almost identical recounting of experiences and incidents, the very nearly word-perfect accounts of conversations and the lack of mutual criticism or irritation often seems a little too contrived and makes the reader suspect they are also talented manipulators of their images. Still, its an enjoyable read which will be thoroughly appreciated by fans of the show. (Kirkus UK) Long Description Richard and Judy are the nations best-loved couple.
