Description: Being offered is the 1928 publication by Elbert Hubbard's firm Roycroft, "Little Journey's Vol. XIII Great Lovers." This 430-page book has the embossed simulated leather cover. Twelve famous pairs of lovers are featured: Robert Louis Stevenson and Fanny Osbourne, Josiah and Sarah Wedgwood, William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft, Dante and Beatrice, John Stuart Mill and Harriet Taylor, Parnell and Kitty O'Shea, Petrarch and Laura, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Elizabeth Eleanor Siddall, Balzac and Madame Hanska, Fenelon and Madame Guyon, Ferdinand Lassalle and Helene Von Donniges, Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton. There are illustrations of one person from each couple. The pages are cut showing a serrated edge and several of the pages when separated exhibit uneven tears (see example pics.) Note the wear on the top and bottom edge bindings. Following Elbert's drowning on the Lusitania in 1915, his son arranged to publish a memorial edition of Hubbard's earlier pamphlets in book form.
