The book is also signed "Lancaster" to the half-title page, Harry Collingwood being a pseudonym, and Lancaster his real family name. Scarce original pictorial hardback. 401 pages, with a page catalogue and 4 plates, all present and correct. Original decorative endpapers. In very attractive condition with some light wear and bumping (see pictures). Light uneven toning to the tissue guard, prelims and some leaves. Internally clean and bright. Binding sound and square. Harry Collingwood was the pseudonym of William Joseph Cosens Lancaster (1843-1922) He was a British engineer and novelist who wrote over 40 adventure books. He was the son of a master mariner, and most of his books have a nautical theme. Provenance: This book formerly belonged to the celebrated bibliographer and book seller George Locke.
