One day some hunters chased the deer into St Giles’ cave and shot an arrow at the deer. The arrow missed the deer but wounded the saint and causing him to be disabled. The king, after hearing of Giles’ piety, built him a monastery in the forest where he lived out his life with a few fellow monks.
