Description: ****Please view the pictures and read the entire description as the book and dust jacket do have moderate wear and damage**** Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein. Published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons in 1961. This is a first edition with the C22 code on page 408, signifying that this is a first printing. Likewise, the price-clipped dust jacket is a first printing dust jacket, complete with the 0761 code and the reference to Starship Troopers on the back panel, which was replaced with Robert Heinlein’s picture beginning with the second printing. The book itself is in fair condition for its age. Minor spine lean. Boards are slightly warped. Boars have wear, soiling, rubbing, etc. Exposed edges of text block are soiled/dusty. Ffep has been cut out and is missing. Half-title page has offsetting/foxing, along with wear and some erasure marks. Rear free end paper, along with both pastedowns also have offsetting and foxing. Paper remains from rear of dust jacket present on pastedowns as it appears the dust jacket flaps were once attached. Minor offsetting to title page. A few of the pages have a few small spots of soiling here and there, but most appear to be quite clean. See pictures so that you may judge condition for yourself. The first-state dust jacket (as evidenced by 0761 code and rear panel content) is in fair only condition. Heavy chipping, wear, rubbing, spine fading, soiling, corner with price has been torn off, several holes, tears, etc. Verso of jacket shows corresponding damage to the damage of the book’s pastedowns where jacket was glued down and then removed. Verso also has old tape present that has yellowed. View pictures to judge condition for yourself. Overall, a fair, readable copy with a fair only dust jacket, that is priced accordingly.
