Description: “First Edition” stated on the reverse side of the title page, beneath the copyright notice. Clothbound covers with smudges and soiling, and notable darkening to the spine. Dust jacket with sun-darkened spine and also darkening, aka “age-toning”, and soiling to the lighter colored jacket rear. Relatively minor wear at jacket edges, most noticeably at the top and bottom of the spine. A few short closed tears at the top edge of the rear of the jacket. Slight “ripples” to parts of the lower half of the jacket. [My description may make the jacket sound worse than it is, but that’s a hazard of trying to thoroughly describe older books.] The photos are presumably the most objective guide to condition. Binding square and tight. No writing or marking to the text. [Some pencil lines were erased from the rear endpapers.] There are some random tiny spots of unknown origin here and there: see the photos of the half-title and copyright pages, for example.
