Description: vintage 1944 Phillipines decorative ladies wooden sandals. Carved wood wedge with tropical home and painted design. Black velvet straps on leather with detailed embroidery flowers on toe and buckle strap at ankle. Buckle closure that has no holes to adjust but the closure still is tight and sound. Approximate size is a 6 or 6-1/2. Shoes measure 8” Sweetheart souvenir sandal that many troops bought to ship home to relatives & girlfriends during WWII. These were found when parents cleaned out grand parents & great parents homes in 1991. Brought back from relatives who served in WWII navy travels. Was displayed in a case with plastic shoe trees inside them since the 1990’s. It’s time to downsize relatives collections of these lovely memories and other oriental jewelry boxes they were once housed with. Doubt they were ever worn except perhaps as a costume or welcome home party for relatives in the 1940’s .
