Vintage Bausch and Lomb Ray-Ban Leathers with Changable Photochromic Lenses

Description: These glasses are in perfect condition and have actually never been worn. The leather on both glasses and case held up wonderfully. Both the frame and the ends of the ear stems are covered in black leather, making them even more durable than the plain metal, but are still fully adjustable. The underside of the nose bridge is stamped B&L 5816 USA, indicating the size in mm of both the lenses and nose bridge. The lenses are laser etched BL at the hinges and Ray-Ban on the right. The lenses feature Bausch and Lomb's Changable technology. They are photochromic, meaning they adjust their density (darkness) according to light and temperature differences. This technology is IN the lenses and is therefore not something that you have to worry may wipe away or come off. Of course optimal care should be given to not use harsh chemicals and store the glasses properly to maintain their condition, but these glasses will hold up well for a lifetime if cared for properly. As you can see in the photos, the lenses are a very light, almost clear color under indoor conditions, and change rapidly to a dark grey when taken outdoors, making them perfectly comfortable in any light. They provide accurate color perception and have a 60-85% light absorption. These glasses are very rare and the technology and quality, especially for their time, is simply unmatched. They don't make sunglasses that can live up to the Bausch and Lomb standards in many ways. All Bausch and Lomb lenses are tested and are scratch and impact resistant.
