Description: We offer for your consideration this vintage handmade knife and sheath. This hand made knife came to us through an estate sale. The former owner was an outdoorsman and avid collector of all manner of swords, knives, and guns, both civilian and military. This knife looks to be, or has been made to be the work of perhaps a indigenous north American person. Heck it might even be a movie prop, but a beautifully made one, for sure. The blade looks to be a full encased tang. The handle is a tobacco brown leather, one seam stitched up and over the pommel. The blade is steel, and looks to have a few few shallow peen hammer marks, as well as file marks. The knife looks to be better used as a piercing tool, rather than a cutting tool, the edge is not very sharp, and the blade is thin, approximately 2 mm thick. The sheath shows some beautiful and skilled leather work. All the stitching appears to be done by hand. The belt loop is a leather thong with a modified turks head style knot at the end. I Wish we could pinpoint the region or the the peoples who worked in this style. This will be a very unusual and attractive knife to add to any collection.
