Description: UP FOR SALE: *VINTAGE GREEN JADE (NEPHRITE) ALABASTER HAND CARVED CHINESE CHESS SET WITH FOLDING STORAGE CASE. This is a very nice vintage Chess Set. Based on research I believe the Green pieces are hand carved out of Jade (Nephrite), & White pieces to either be Marble, Soapstone, Onyx or Nephrite as well. This is a rare find and would make a great addition to any collection and or gift. The kings measure approximately 2.75” tall with each of the other pieces subsequently smaller; down to the pawns which measure approximately 1.75" tall. Inside of box has 2 wooden pull out trays lined with fabric with cutouts for pieces to fit snuggly to protect during transport. I have inspected each piece closely and the only flaw is on one of the white bishops where the small round ball on the top has broken off. In addition there are some light surface scratches on the bottoms of some pieces (see photos). Item is used and in GOOD CONDITION. Box shows some wear from use & storage over the year (scuffs, paint loss, scratches, etc) but overall no major flaws or cracks (see photos). Comes from a smoke and pet free home.
