Description: Auction for vintage WW1 Princess Mary Gift box and contents to include WW1 BWM/VIctory Medal ot H.R. Hutchinson, WW2 Defence Medal in mailing box, RAF hat badge (damaged), three placed ribbon bar, minature medal mess dress ribbons, and Queen Victoria Jubilee Medal, 1897. Medals are named to A.M. 1 Hutchinson and mailing box to Mr. H. R. Hutchison. I believe this is to one person. The Princess Mary box was carried long after the contents were used. It was considered air tight and frequently used to store money, photos and other small treasured items.1. WW1 British War Medal impressed 44191 1.A.M. H.R. Hutchinson. R.A.F. No ribbon. British Cupro Nickle WWII Defence Medal, unnamed, in original mailing box named to Mr. H. R. Hutchinson, 10, Northcote Road, E. Twickenham, Middx. Box shows wear/age from mailing/storage. This includes splitting on corners.4. Ribbon bar or Uniform with BWM, WW1 Victory Medal, Defence Medal. Sewn type ribbon bar shows fading/use with age.5. RAF hat badge. Badge is missing on attachment. Most probably a WW2 type.6. Miniature Medal Ribbon bar for BWM/WWI Victory Medal. Open loop catch on back. Medals show some scratching from have been worn.7. Queen Victoria Jubilee Medal with hook type attachment. It is unnamed and dated 1897. Ribbon shows heavy fraying and is fragile.8. Two small photos approximately 4" x 2 1/2" in size. First photo shows a young lady with various Queen Victoria medals on her clothings. It is from Schuth's Galleries London. The second photo is of another young lady in standard pose. Marked Chas Keeping Photographers Exeter on back. Relationship to Hutchinson unknown. Could have been sisters or friends?9. Princess Mary 1914 gift fund box. Embossed brass with the Princess's relief gift box would have originally contained a photo of Princess Mary, The Queen, King, Christmas Card, one ounce of pipe tobacco, pipe, tinder lighter, twenty cigarettes and chocolate for troops that smoked. Non-smokers received acid tablets, khaki writing case containing pencil, paper, envelopes, Christmas Card, and photo of the Princess. After 1914 there was a surplus of these boxes and they were distributed for the of the war to those abroad and at home. Box and contents show normal wear/tear associated with age. Gift Box shows toning, bumps, with age. Medal box shows signs of having been mailed. Patina on Silver WWI BWM. No ribbons for the WWI Victory/BWM. Ribbon bar for BWM/Victory Medal/Defence Medal. They are sewn and show fading from use. Two miniature medals for the BWM/WW1 Victory Medal. They have patina from age. Queen Victoria Jubilee Medal ribbon frayed and fragile. RAF badge missing attachments. WW1 medals correctly named. Photos are mounted on period backing.
