Description: Original WW2 German "HEERESKARTE" (Army Map) of ROMANIA entitled "STREHAIA" Scale of 1:100,000. It's headed "Nur für den Dienstgebrauch" (equivalent to a "RESTRICTED" British military map). The map was clearly captured by the Allies, and eventually found its way through the official British archives to Edinburgh University, who recently sold it off as part of a larger collection (hence ink stamping to margin). From time to time, the government distributes excess stocks of Allied maps, along with smaller numbers of captured enemy examples, to various national institutions such as libraries, museums, universities etc. In great condition.
