Description: WWI FRENCH BAYONET SWORD & SCABBARD Mre d'Armes de Etienne Fevrier 1878 This listing is for a vintage French bayonet sword with stamped lettering on top edge of blade “Mre. D’Armes de Etienne Fevrier 1878”. The bayonet has a brass hilt with spring latching on right side (working) and a forward curved quillon (marked with 3 oval marks: B with star above; letter M; and T with star above), and a wood grip. The steel cross guard is marked with F G and the number 5856 (does not match number on the scabbard), and features a screw rigged tightening opening on the muzzle ring. The steel, single edge, fullered, curved blade itself measures approx. 20-1/2" and overall length with handle is 25-3/8”, and the bade is marked with an oval letter M and an oval with letter M and a crown above. (I have not attempted to clean the bayonet or scabbard). Included is a steel scabbard with the letter N and number 66943, with ball finial tip, and a French frog loop, alone it measures approx. 21-1/8" and with bayonet in place, the overall length is approx. 26". When item is packed SECURELY for shipping, it weighs 3 pounds 12 ounces (mailing box size is approx. 6" X 6" X 32"). Please pay close attention to photos for best description of condition, thank you.
