Description: This is a very fine World War I Imperial German 1914 Iron Cross 2 Class in black leatherette presentation case that remains in excellent condition. The cross is with a pristine magnet iron core. The monogram ‘W’, the crown, and the 1914 date are in high relief as are the crown, the ‘FW’ on the obverse and the crown, the oak leaf sprig, and the 1814 date on the reverse. The silver frame is with a sharply defined serrated silver bead running around the outer edge and now with an age toned patina. The black leatherette case measures 5x2½ inches and has an embossed Prussian crown at the upper left corner. The bed is of blue velvet and recessed perfectly for the cross. The underside of the lid is lined with a white satin pad upon which is printed the legend ‘Zur Erinnerung an Deutschlands grosse Zeit' which translates to ‘In Memory of Germany's Great Era’. This is a truly beautiful example in excellent, undamaged condition. 9160
